The VyStar Foundation has awarded $200,000 in grants to 12 Florida and Georgia nonprofits that help military and veterans, the Florida Times-Union reports.
The nonprofits were selected "for their innovative and impactful approaches to addressing homelessness, basic needs, mental health services and workforce development," according to VyStar Credit Union's philanthropic arm, which has given about $1 million in grants since its inception in 2023.
The recipients are: Veterans Affairs: New Jacksonville clinic to care for 42,000 additional vetsClay County Rescue Mission, Orange Park $20,000Heart of Florida United Way, Orlando $20,000Here Tomorrow, Jacksonville $20,000Hope4Veterans, Orange Park $20,000MOACC Good Deeds Foundation, Patrick Space Force Base $20,000Navy League of the U.S.

A Gilesgate-based shop and community facility, Hexham’s Core Music, launches a separate workshop where up to six people will be trained how to repair guitars and make ukuleles. The European Social Fund grant supported the project and has secured funds through the County Durham Communication Foundation to equip the workshop in Burn Lane.
